China (18.7 Mt) and India (15 Mt) lead well ahead of the United States (9.6 Mt), yet the world's top exporter of cotton lint — most of China's and India's output feeds their own domestic textile industries, while the United States exports most of its harvest to Asia for spinning and weaving.
