Thailand (4.8 Mt) leads ahead of Indonesia (2.3 Mt) and Côte d'Ivoire (1.7 Mt), now the world's third producer — a recent shift that has pushed Malaysia, the sector's historic giant into the 1980s with a peak of 1.5 Mt, well behind its Southeast Asian neighbours and Côte d'Ivoire alike.
