India (37.6 Mt) dominates world production by a wide margin, almost entirely consumed in its own domestic market — a case where the top producer isn't the top exporter: Ecuador, only the fourth producer (7.6 Mt), remains the world's top exporter, its harvest going almost entirely to North American and European markets.
