Time slider, year by year. This is a share of the electricity mix, not a volume produced: a small country can show 90% coal with a negligible total output next to a large country at 20%.
Botswana (98%) and South Africa (84%) draw almost all their electricity from coal, for lack of a cheap local alternative. India (75%) and Mongolia (85%) illustrate coal-dependent Asia's structural reliance, despite heavy solar investment in recent years.
