Memberships, alliances, regional organizations
Each country's simultaneous membership of some thirty international organisations — alliances, customs unions, regional groupings. Unlike the other maps, a country carries several memberships at once here.

Memberships overlap far more than they oppose one another. The same state can sit in NATO and in the European Union, in BRICS and in the OECD: reading the world as sealed blocs is a Cold War reflex.
Turkey has been in NATO since 1952 and an EU candidate since 1999, with no progress. India sits in BRICS and in the Quad, two groupings with opposite logics — which is precisely the point of its contemporary non-alignment.
